Welcome to the Thinkers Math page!!! The school year will begin with the students being expected to be organized and prepared for class. This is a daily expectation and will play a major role in student success throughout the school year. They need to come to class with 6 key essentials: LMS Agenda Homework Folder Class Textbook Class Binder Class Notebook Pencil
The homework folder will be taken to each and every class and will have two pockets that need to remain organized each and every day. The two pockets will be labeled "To Do" and "Done". To Do means that there is something to be completed prior to being turned in. Done means that it is ready for turning into the teacher. Homework is not collected early, they are responsible for their organization and preparation for class. This folder qndshould be taken home each and every day for parents to help students with anything that needs to be completed or for the parent to use as a check for understanding.
The agenda will be written in on a daily basis. Students are expected to enter the classroom and get the necessary agenda information from the board and translate into their agenda. Parents can check the weekly lesson plans pull down menu or remind 101 and compare this information to materials in their Take-Home Folder and what is written in their agenda.
Students will have daily work and some may be necessary to complete at home. There are usually daily assignments, but there will be classroom time to get them started and possibly completed. Student attention to work during class will play a major role in the amount of time that is necessary to spend on homework while at home. If the student is spending large amounts of time on homework, please contact the teacher for additional information about this issue.
The class binder is used for work after it has been completed, turned in and possibly graded. All assignments may not be graded, but should be placed in the binder. This is the first place to look when a student is missing classwork. The second place to check is the homework folder. The binder will be emptied at the conclusion of each quarter and will be used to review for assessments throughout the quarter.
Students will be regularly assessed on their knowledge of math lessons and have the ability to retake assessments if necessary. Whatever their grade on the retake will be their new grade. If the student is discontent with their test or quiz grade, they need to set up a time to stay after school or take care of during extended advisory with the teacher. Once the time is coordinated, the student is expected to prepare themselves for the retake.
